Konzept

Fokussieren heißt: etwas in den Blick zu nehmen. Wenn der Mensch etwas in den Blick nimmt, dann meint dies einen bewussten Akt. Fokussierende Kameratechnik dagegen reagiert nur mechanisch auf die Gegebenheiten. Der Autofokus der Kamera vermag das Objekt, welches in den Bildsensorbereich eintritt, weder vorauszuahnen noch direkt beim ersten Eintreten zu erfassen. Das "Sehen" der Kamera wird in dieser Videoarbeit zu einem metaphorischen Bild eines allmählichen Verstehensprozesses. Das Verständnis hält allerdings nur so lange an, wie sich der Mond im Fokusbereich befindet. Dann wird das Bild wieder unscharf, bis nur noch eine Erinnerung bleibt.
Das aufgenommene Videobild des durch den Fokus wandernden Mondes ist vierfach im Kreis angeordnet worden, so dass sich wiederum ein Fokus ergibt, eine Form von Blende, die sich aufzuziehen und zu schließen scheint.
Wahlweise kann über einen Kopfhörer, der an der Wand hängt, ein Ton zu diesem Bild hinzugenommen werden. Der Ton wiederum fokussiert die Deutung des Bildes, indem er eine bestimmte Stimmung erzeugt.

Concept

Focusing means taking a look at something. When people look at something, it means a conscious act. Focusing camera technology, on the other hand, reacts only mechanically to the conditions. The autofocus of the camera is neither able to anticipate the object entering the image sensor area nor to capture it directly at the first entry. In this video work, the "seeing" of the camera becomes a metaphorical image of a gradual process of understanding. However, the understanding only lasts as long as the moon is in the focus area. Then the image becomes blurred again until only one memory remains.
The recorded video image of the moon wandering through the focus has been arranged fourfold in a circle so that a focus results again, a form of aperture that seems to open and close.
Alternatively, a sound can be added to the picture via headphones hanging on the wall. The sound, in turn, focuses the interpretation of the image by creating a certain mood.
